Assessment Handbook

    Level of Achievement

After determining the maximum possible score on the assessment instrument, based on the method of evaluation selected, instructors must decide what score students must receive in order to demonstrate that they have met the outcome. In some cases, the level may need to be 100%. In others, students may adequately demonstrate proficiency if they score only 2 out of 3. Whatever the score determined, it should be reviewed periodically to see if it indeed reflects the expectations of the instructors, transfer institutions, and employers. When instructors have completed the steps in determining what outcomes they will assess and how they will assess those outcomes, the instructors should complete the course outcomes matrix and submit it to the Assessment Committee.
